Hepi Sidekick

What is Hepi Sidekick?

Hepi Sidekick is a lightweight, secondary app surface designed to run specifically inside the Safe Exam Browser (SEB) isolated desktop.

Since the primary Hepi window cannot cross the boundary of a virtual desktop, Hepi Sidekick acts as your representative on the “other side,” providing full assistant and quiz functionality without forcing you to switch back to your normal desktop.

Info
Hepi Sidekick requires the **Pro+ plan** and is launched automatically when `Kiosk Bypass` detects an active SEB desktop session.

Key Capabilities

  • In-Exam Access: Use Hepi’s assistant and quiz tools directly on the SEB screen.
  • Fast Response: Optimized for low latency inside the locked-down environment.
  • Cross-Desktop Integration: Any data you capture or questions you ask are synced back to your main Hepi account on the normal desktop.
  • Resilient Design: Works with Prevent SEB From Closing Other Apps to remain active even when SEB tries to shut down background processes.

When To Use It

You should use Hepi Sidekick whenever your SEB session is running in Create New Desktop mode. In this mode, it is the only way to interact with Hepi without physically switching Windows desktops.

How It Works With Other Features

  • Kiosk Bypass: This is the engine that allows Hepi Sidekick to spawn inside the locked SEB environment.
  • Patch Enforcement: Helps protect Hepi Sidekick from being terminated by SEB’s security monitors.
  • Desktop Toggle: Allows you to switch between the Hepi Sidekick view and your normal desktop using Ctrl+Shift+D.

Important Notes

  • One at a Time: Hepi Sidekick only runs when an isolated SEB desktop is active. It will close automatically when you exit SEB.
  • Architecture: Ensure Hepi and SEB are both running as 64-bit applications (standard on most modern PCs) for the bypass and sidekick to launch correctly.
  • Admin Rights: Sidekick requires Hepi to have been started with Administrator privileges.
