User Guide
Customize Shortcuts
Change Hepi hotkeys, avoid conflicts, and use diagnostics when a shortcut fails.
Before You Change Anything
Think about which shortcuts matter most in your daily tasks. Most people only need to customize a few:
- Show or hide Hepi
- Region capture
- Click-through or overlay control
- Any task they use many times per day
Steps
- Open Settings and go to the Hotkeys section.
- Pick the action you want to change.
- Choose a combination that does not overlap with another app you use often.
- Save the change if needed.
- Test it immediately in the same context where you expect to use it.
Good Shortcut Choices
- Use combinations you can remember.
- Avoid keys another app already needs.
- Keep your recovery shortcuts easy to reach.
- Change only a small number at one time.
What A Good Shortcut Setup Looks Like
A strong setup usually means:
- Your daily shortcuts are easy to remember
- Important actions do not conflict with your other main apps
- Recovery shortcuts still work if Hepi feels hidden
- You have tested the new combination, not just assigned it
Shortcut Diagnostics
In the Hotkeys settings, you'll see a list of all available actions and their current assignments. If a shortcut isn't working, Hepi will often show a warning if another application is already using that key combination.
Common Mistakes
- Changing too many shortcuts at once
- Choosing combinations another app already captures
- Forgetting to test after saving
- Making recovery shortcuts harder to reach than before
