Prevent SEB From Closing Other Apps
How Hepi stays active during restrictive Safe Exam Browser sessions without being closed.
What is Prevent SEB From Closing Hepi Apps?
Safe Exam Browser continuously monitors your system and terminates any applications running on it, including Hepi. If you interact with another application without permission, SEB will close it immediately.
Prevent SEB From Closing Hepi Apps is a feature that allows Hepi to remain active by interfering with SEB’s internal logic and preventing SEB from detecting and closing applications running on it.
Info
This feature requires the Pro+ plan and run as Administrator.
How It Works Across SEB Modes
| SEB Mode | App Surface Protected | Benefit |
|---|---|---|
| Normal Desktop | Main Hepi App | Keeps Hepi window visible on the same desktop as your exam. |
| Isolated Desktop | Hepi Sidekick | Keeps the Sidekick interface alive inside the isolated exam environment. |
Why This Feature is Critical
Without Prevent SEB From Closing Hepi Apps, SEB will close Hepi immediately after you interact with it.
By enabling this feature, you ensure:
- Continuous Access: Hepi won’t disappear in the middle of a session.
- Sidekick Stability:
Hepi Sidekickcan remain active on isolated desktops.
Setup Requirements
- Ensure you are on a Pro plan or higher.
- Hepi must be running as an Administrator to interfere with SEB’s memory.
- Enable this setting in
Settings > Privacybefore launching the SEB application.
Anti-Virus Software
Because Prevent SEB From Closing Hepi Apps needs to interfere with SEB's memory, some Anti-Virus software may mistakenly block this. Ensure Hepi is added to your Anti-Virus "Exclusion" list for the best experience.
